Lexus' UK Blog Suggests Affordable Coupe
All those nights spent dreaming for a proper successor to the SC 430 might not have been in vain if Lexus' UK blog is to be believed. According to them, the mere existence of the LF-LC is reason to believe that "exciting and surprisingly affordable new coupes from Lexus could be closer than we imagine."
That seems to clash with Lexus' earlier statement of avoiding entry-level models at first, but when considering there's little-to-no chance of ANY kind of luxury coupe costing under $30,000, it begins to make a little more sense. If they do actually give a car the green light, we can only speculate on what platform they'd build it on.
If they actually mean it when they say "affordable," then the only chassis currently available is the FR-S. Imagining that body with the styling (and interior!) from the LF-LC is enough to make the mouth water. Either that, or they're just trying to stir the pot a little bit. I hope they're not though, a true successor to the SC lineage is long, long over due.
Will Lexus Finally have a competitive coupe? Or are they pulling our leg? Let us know what you think in the forums!
