Car Porn, Lexus CT200h in Hong Kong
Car photography is vast world. On one hand, you have pictures. On the other hand, you have photos. Here’s a gallery indicative of the latter with renowned Hong Kong director/cinematographer/photographer Chester Ng.
For a visual professional who’s built his career on capturing the insane beauty of exotics and supercars throughout Hong Kong’s neon-highrise jungle, I’m glad to see him giving a bit of attention to something a little more… commuter friendly with Lexus’ fuel sipping hatch.
Take a closer look into his Facebook photos and bear in mind that with Hong Kong’s ultra-dense population and very limited real estate, owning a private car is actually an extremely expensive endeavor.
How much more expensive? According to Lexus HK, the MSRP for a base CT200h dials in at almost $40,000 USD (we’ll save you the trouble of converting). In addition, all new cars in Hong Kong are subject to a “first time registration tax” which can vary 35 to over 100% of the car’s value, depending on size and cost. Holy crap.
But in there lies the silver lining of driving a hybrid with a possible $10,000 (USD again) worth of tax incentives. Not that any of this affects how awesome these photos are. Just letting you know.
