Boring Consumer Website Lies About Lexus to Draw Views

Consumer Reports recently put out a list of their Best and Worst Cars of 2015, and right near the bottom of the article in the “Worst” section was the new Lexus NX. They say that the NX has a “firm, jostling ride” and that its handling is “no match for its German rivals.” Well, not only is the NX far from the “worst” car of 2015, but Consumer Reports loved it in their first drive review.

Turning around and calling the NX “worst of 2015” is a flat out lie, and I can only assume it’s done to help drive views. After all, when you make your living with reviews of vacuum cleaners and toasters, it must be hard to get views when talking about important things like cars.

If you go read the original review from CR (Hey look, here is a link for it!), they claim that the NX ride quality is “firm and tightly controlled, yet absorbent enough on winter-ravaged New England roads.” That doesn’t seem very “jostling” to me. And then that remark about German handling. Well, in that same first review, they wrote that “It may not be as rewarding to drive as those German athletes, but it’s certainly close.” So how did it go from being “close” to being “no match” so suddenly?

I always considered Consumer Reports’ car reviews to be a bit of a joke, and this just solidifies that for me. What a sorry excuse for an automotive article.
