Auto Express Tests the Lexus GS F
Just as soon as this video starts, you can tell Steve Sutcliffe of Auto Express is skeptical of the Lexus GS F. But as you watch him spend more and more time in the car, he warms up to the Japanese sport sedan and finds plenty of positives.
The GS F is obviously made to compete against cars like the BMW M5 and Audi RS6. Priced at £69,995 ($107,000), you get a rear-wheel-drive four-door with an eight-speed automatic and a 470bhp 5.0-liter V8.
It’s the same engine, which has direct and port fuel injection, that you find in its family member, the RC F. But even with two extra doors, Sutcliffe says he feels the GS F drives better than the RC F, thanks to a stiffer and sharper chassis. (Which is pretty much the same conclusion our managing editor John Coyle came to when he drove the car around Spain.)
Sutcliffe repeats multiple times that the car has an “old-fashioned” feel to it, and that it renders the comparisons to the likes of the M5 irrelevant. Despite what he calls a noticeable lack of torque, Sutcliffe applauds Lexus for leaving the car naturally aspirated and says the car makes a fantastic chorus when driven hard.
