7 Bizarre Lexus Paint Jobs

By -

There are great paint jobs, and there are awful ones.  There’s not much room in between, but fortunately, it’s not often that you come across an unappealing custom paint job on a Lexus. But once you do, it’s hard not to question, “What was the owner thinking?” or, “How could someone pay hundreds of dollars for that?” Here are seven questionable Lexus paint jobs that’ll leave you scratching your head.

1. This down under disaster

disaster

I’ll give it some points for looking realistic, but this has got to be one of the strangest requests a paint shop has ever gotten. I want to say this is a crocodile, but it could very well be an alligator. And quite frankly, the thought of both make me uneasy.  Cars and reptiles simply don’t mix, especially when they appear to be menacingly emerging from a swampy engine.

2. This Ice Age homage

Ice Age

Maybe the owner of this RX really just loves the movie Ice Age. Or maybe they just don’t know how to say “no” to their kid’s absurd demands. We’ll never really know, but a saber-toothed squirrel chasing after an acorn is hardly what Lexus meant by performance. Maybe the owner sees the acorn as a symbol of achieving success through owning a Lexus? Okay…I’m looking too far into this awful paint job now…

3. This jacked up jaguar job

Sticking with the animal theme, can you believe someone paid to have this vicious jaguar painted across the entire driver’s side? It’s likely meant to be intimidating, but what it really succeeds at is making me laugh.  They should’ve just bought a Jaguar.

4. This star-spangled, hot pink mess

Star Spangled

My brain is a little overstimulated when I look at this star-studded, silver and pink custom paint job on an IS. Is this from an episode of “My Super Sweet Sixteen,” where 16-year-old girls are gifted ridiculously expensive cars as their first rides? That still wouldn’t justify making an IS look  tacky and cheap. I can only imagine that the design goes all the way back and around the sides. If you’re going to cover up your car almost entirely, don’t buy a Lexus.

5. This Pepto-Bismol paint job

Pepto-Bismol

Surely, the thought process here must have been, “I want my Lexus to look like it bathed overnight in Pepto-Bismol with the windows down.”  Oh yes, if you look closely, you’ll see that the entire interior is pink, too.  Although the paint job itself looks flawless, there are just so many things wrong with doing this to a Lexus. Remember: there is such a thing as “too much pink.”

6. This Laker-loving Lexus

Lakers

Okay, we get it, you’re a huge Laker fan, but did you really have to make it so apparently known by turning your daily driver into a full-blown fandom showpiece, down to the yellow and purple rims? This owner could’ve saved a lot of cash by hanging a keychain from the rearview mirror or getting a custom sunshade. If I see this Lexus parked on a street, I’m half expecting it to double as a concession stand for snacks and Laker memorabilia.

7. Whatever is going on here

Silver surfer

“Free parking lot paint jobs!” said no one ever. Except this guy. It’s unclear what kind of look he’s going for, but it’s not turning out too well.  Metallic silver is the predominant color, and there’s a black and green swirl method well underway, but I’m left wondering what color this RX was to begin with and how the owner could think this would end well.
