3,000 HP Lexus RC F Terrorizes the Drag Strip (Video)
EKanoo Racing’s Twin Turbo RC F Lays Down Some Seriously Impressive Numbers in the Quarter Mile
In stock form, the Lexus RC F isn’t exactly what you would call slow. With a 467 hp V8, the luxury sports coupe goes 0-60 in 4.3 seconds and completes the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 114 mph. Impressive indeed, but quite pedestrian when compared to EKanoo Racing’s 3,000 hp RC F drag car.
Granted, this is a dedicated race car-sharing only (similar) body work to the road-going Lexus. But that doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate the violent intensity in which it rockets down the quarter mile. Nor ignore the insane numbers it produces – 5.5 second 1/4 mile runs at just under 280 mph.
Just listening to those massive twin turbos spool up at the line is enough to give anyone the willies. With revs bouncing off the limiter as the car starts to shake violently, releasing the trans brake unleashes the beast within. The RC F runs amazingly straight considering the stress the chassis is under as well.
EKanoo, based out of Bahrain and owned by Ebrahim Kanoo, isn’t new to the racing scene. But his RC F is. It’s a spanking new car built just in time for the 2016-2017 Arabian Pro Series. Jerry Bickel Race Cars in Missouri built the chassis. The rest of the car, including the custom molded carbon fiber body, was built by EKanoo – except for the glorious engine.
That fire breathing 526 cubic inch lump was built by Pro Line Racing in Ball Ground, Georgia. With a pair of Precision Turbo and Engine turbochargers, it’s capable of over 4,500 horsepower. But the most amazing thing might be the total build time for the RC F – a mere five weeks. Fitting for a car that blazes down the quarter in five seconds, wouldn’t you say?
