2nd Gen Lexus CT Hatch Looking to Get Hotter
More details about the next generation CT hatchback are coming out, and by all indications, it sounds like another Lexus winner.
The 2018 CT will ride along on the same underpinnings as the recently released 4th gen Toyota Prius. The modular platform, known internally as Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), should help lighten the load and allow for improved efficiency and handling. And of course, the next gen will get the CT up-to-date stylistically with the rest of the lineup.
Most importantly though, the new CT should show a little bit more get-up-and-go from its electric hybrid drivetrain, something the current model has been criticized for.
According to Digital Trends, the next gen CT will be making its debut at a 2017 international auto show, and should be ready for production for model year 2018 with a starting price tag of around $30,000.
Interesting side note here, DT also notes the following:
“Recent rumors indicate the hatchback will be joined by an entry-level model that will ride on the same platform as the tiny Toyota Yaris. Loosely previewed by the LF-SA concept that was shown in Geneva, the city car will be aimed squarely at the MINI Cooper, the DS 3, and the Audi A1.”
So we’ll be paying close attention to that development, as well as all the updates on the next CT. So stay tuned!
